24. Chippy Challenge – SUMMER LEARNING JOURNEY

Kia Ora, Reader!

Well, it has been a long time since I’ve last posted… Because I have my own things to do. I do know that I’m behind of all the SLJ (Summer Learning Journey) and I’m very aware that I missed out on quite a lot of SLJ’s 🥲. I am here to show you wonderful readers my work of the Fish ‘n’ Chips menu we students were asked to do. I can explain the things I’ve done in order to do this and that.

The video I watched was about a guy who looks like he was munching on some fries, telling us to make a Menu of Fish ‘n’ Chips for this activity. After watching that, I scrolled to the slideshow and watched the two videos under the heading “Ako | Learn”. The first video, was about fish and chips tips with Kiwi Top Chef. Then the second video was basically about fish and chips and its origin. I do realize that I’m 4 days late, it was because I was occupied by doing something else.

Under those video options, there was a description under “Hanga | Create” reading “Create and design a unique Fish ‘n’ Chips Menu, including different types of fish, toppings, and sides. Use high-quality images and easy-to-read font and layout.” Which is where I tried to follow and hopefully I try satisfy you  :)!

Hereby is my mahi/work of  my Fish ‘n’ Chips Menu that I created using the app ‘Canva’ :).

The inspo that helped me name the fish that’s on the list was from my twin sister, TreydenH. I guess some may know her because she posts every SLJ she can 🙂. The motivation that helped me make this Menu was actually due to boredom, I’m actually surprised that it cured my boredom well… I might do it often!

So the things under the Toppings section of my Fish & Chips Menu,  also kinda counts as the ‘EXTRA‘ items as well (such as the Corn-Dog and Sausages.), since I didn’t want to make the Menu long. (There wasn’t much space either, so… 🥲). I don’t exactly like my Menu design and I’m not sure why, but I can sense something that’s throwing it off.

Overall,  I 100% enjoyed this post today, and I wish you a Merry Christmas. Please comment on my mistakes… And don’t forget to add your thoughts along with it. tell me what I could improve, don’t be shy! Another post is coming (part two of this act), stay tuned!

24. Summer Learning Journey ACTIVITY 2 – CYBERSMART

Kia Ora!

For this activity, we had to create our OWN puffer fish on a new Google drawing that’s inspired by the Japanese Pufferfish – The most artistic sea animal nature ever known.

It is known for its intelligence and making a pattern to impress a female of its own kind. If it doesn’t impress the women puffer fish well then nothing will. I created a new drawing and put it in my Cybersmart folder, before creating my wonderful art.

My puffer fish is blue and the patterns within it thats inspired by the Cook Island patterns because I mostly have Cook island genes in my blood. 🙂

Here’s a slideshow that explains the things that I did in order to make my masterpiece. It shows how I made this in order to make that, you know?

I hope you liked the way I designed it 🙂 I worked very hard to be honest 🥲.

Bye!!!

24. Summer Learning Journey – CYBERSMART

Kia Ora! 😀

Not long ago on Wednesday, we had to write on a sheet of paper and wrote a few words that are associated with the term ‘Sea’. I’ve done a few words and wanted to make this category of this crossword about Green Sea Turtles. I was meant to do it over 15 settings but I did 6 because I wanted to keep it simple and easy (Since the answers are a bit difficult).

Have a go and play my game that I’ve created, you won’t even beat it I bet! I embedded the link so you can just play it here.

I collected the information about the Green Sea Turtle on National Geographic Kids on the Sea life category. Hints are on the bottom and you can Google the answers if you’re that stupid 😂

I hope you enjoyed my game, bye!!

24. Reading Response Making Decisions – Room 9

Kia Ora, Reader.

For reading last week, we had to read three books that were inserted into the slideshow Tanya created.

You may know how a reading response works, so I obviously had to answer the questions that were added after I read the book. Last week was stressful,(!) so I couldn’t do ANYTHING to finish my reading response. (Yeah this was meant to be on my blog on Friday..) Anyways, down below is my slideshow (that I actually finished without skipping a slide. Don’t include the last slide because it just says thank you.) of my reading response. I found it muy easy doing this reading, it was actually not as bad as I thought it was!

Here it is down below! Tell me my mistakes down in the comments below.

(Sorry if the presentation is too big 😅) Thank you for reading, see you in the next blog.

Bye! 🙂

24. Reading Response – Room 11

Kia Ora!

Yesterday on Monday, Room 9 had to stay in Room 11’s  classroom because Room 9’s teacher (Tanya) was gone to take the Year 8’s orienteering the High school -(Papa)kura High School. I’m Year 7 so I didn’t exactly know what they did there, but for a fact I do know that they went to set up for their next year’s future.

In Whaea Peta’s class, which was Room 11, we started the day off by reading a book for 25 min. I wasn’t quite prepared for the purpose of reading these books so I kept changing because I actually wanted to read a book that really interested me. Then after those 25 minutes of silent reading, Peta told us to pull up a new Google slide sheet. I didn’t hear her so I went to do my own things – like finishing the work I had to do last week. My friend suggested that I make a new Google Slide, and since I didn’t hear the teacher, I didn’t believe her 😂. That was until I looked around to the people behind me, who had a new presentation pulled up with the title of the book they were reading, which motivated me to move on and follow my friends command by now on. Remember when I mentioned that I kept changing books? Well yeah, that mucked me up and I had to choose another book from random that had muy small sentences per page. AT LEAST I found a good book to use for my reading response.

You can see the book I read down below, I actually like it and explained why in my slides.

Thanks for reading.. If you skimmed through the slides, you can see that I didn’t finish – reason being is because we had to pack for morning tea. (Please inform me in the comment section 👇 if you can’t see the slides I embedded in. Along with that, tell me your thoughts and what I shall improve!)

Bye!

24. Christmas At The Paa

Kia Ora.

_

Yesterday, Edmund Hillary school had to perform for Christmas at the Paa. I had the option to choose the Pasifika, or Kapa Haka. I picked Pasifika because I thought the other girls were going to perform it. Then again I also thought that the most votes meant that one of the group would be chosen for the whole school to perform in one group, not individuals.

So basically two or three months ago around October I guess, we had to practise nearly everyday for yesterday’s moment. Since I’ve never done any poly dance ever in my life, I was a bit stiff during practise. For the last 4 days the pasifika group has been practicing every day, meaning we had to skip our school work sometimes 🥲.

For the outfits, we had to wear a ie lavalava for the bottom and a t-shirt that reads EHS (Edmund Hillary School) including an ta’ovala (I guess) around the waist. The teachers brought it so we couldn’t really keep the clothing. Along with those clothing, for our hair accessories, we had a red flower. I liked our outfits, they looked nice and pretty. After performing, I wasn’t as exhausted as I thought I was gonna be. I was smiling out of nervousness, not excitement like my whanau thought. Once I got off stage and went to the back to collect some food from the kind people FOR FREE. When we were walking at the back, we got a water bottle, a bag of popcorn, and a chocolate popsicle. That was kind of the people of the Marae. After all of those things, I went to greet my parents and walk around the Marae with my friends to purchase some stuff for free or for money. I had enjoyed all the fun as I could and stayed till about 5 or 6 o’clock.

Here’s one image of the Pasifika performance along with the Kapa Haka group.

I also met some of my old friends from back in the days, it was so cool!

Bye!!

24. Gift Giving/Scholarships – KPMG

Kia Ora, Reader.

On Wednesday we (Room 9) were gladly gifted by the awesome company – KPMG! (They handed out presents to the whole senior and junior school which is basically the whole students who attend EHS, but the main focus is my class.)

Starting for the first time on that day, we had to escalate to the Hall.

There, is where we watched 4 year 8 students earn a school Scholarship! One of those four who was selected for a scholarship was my SISTER! She never told me about it and said that she never earned one; But she lied! I was so proud of her in fact I was on the verge of tearing up. Gladly I didn’t.

After all of that, we went to class; where Tanya introduced us to 3 Thank you cards made for our upcoming KPMG members who were arriving. (Keep reading and you’ll see.) Everyone in Room 9 had to write a comment about their thoughts on KPMG’s helpful things they provided Edmund Hillary throughout the years. (Such as whanau funday and the way they attended our sports camp to support us, and more like Easter.) After writing our natural kind comments in the TY cards, we got called to walk back torwards the Hall.

We had to gather around in the Hall sensibly in our lines and sit on the expanded carpet to wait for KPMG or Whaea Lorraine to call out our class and wait for 3 KPMG members to volunteer and come collect our bag of gifts and follow us outside and into our classroom. I’ll be introducing the 3 good representatives soon if you keep reading.

Once we went back in our class, we had to pose as role-models, so KPMG would think that our school teachers and students are really good at behaving. (Though my class is good at showing respect… my teacher only is actually). Okay anyways, when we were in our cold nice classroom, the three KPMG members introduced themselves. (I kinda forgot their names so moving onto what I remember how they are). I do remember that one of the guys, coming from KPMG, only became a member of the kind company for 2 months or so. (The guy on the right next to the middle if you can see in the photo below). They were all friends so that gave them a brilliant demeanour and personality.                                                                                                       Way before, about 3-4 months ago – Me and my class had to go online shopping to find some things that we wanted that are under about $25 dollars. I had the option to choose between wire(less) headphones or LED lights. Yeah, I asked for bluetooth headphones and they actually granted me what I desired :).

My best (not the best because our Lord is the best) friend had LED lights which she also wanted, along with a set of chocolates that she didn’t ask for, but I guess KPMG was being biased to those who asked for small items. (Some other students who also asked for LED lights also had chocolate). I was jealous of the chocolate but I had to hide it of course, because we had to be grateful. My twin had a mouse which looked nice but it was too much for my eyesight to handle, because of all the flashing lights within it.

Overall I love my gift so much actually, I am really grateful!!! It was headphones with flash colours of gold on it, which is my 2nd favorite colour. 🙂

Here’s a photo of Room 9 achieving our gifts. (KPMG are the people with different shirts)

I hope you enjoyed my post!

Remember, God Bless.

Merry Christmas and a Happy 2025. Bye!

24. Bee Business – Reading

Talofa lava!

For reading this week, as you can see in the title, we (The group I’m in Karearea.) are doing a reading slide about bees with another group, which is the highest reading community in my class – Tui.

The reading slideshow is about bees and explains that when you read or watch the things added in the slides, you can earn information and achieve the main stuff about bees to become a bee master (Referring to being a professional at knowing what bees are and what they do.)

I’ve actually learnt heaps of things about bees that I’ve actually never managed to perceive. Like that Female Bees (some of them) are the ones who work, aka the Worker Bees. Their job is to help manufacture the honeycomb – something you can consume with no trouble. Now introducing the Male Bees, are the Drone’s – Their job is to produce more bees with the queen. The Queen Bee can establish over 1,500 bees per day – if the Drone helps assist to keep the Queen healthy.

That’s all the things that I have to korero. Comment your opinion on bees, including your thoughts.

C’ya in the next post!

24. PapyrusAI

HELLO!

We have been investigating using PapyrusAI. Our first attempt with Naomi was interesting, this is because it was the first time I’ve used AI for work. The main task to do was to copy and paste a piece of writing from a story that we wrote, and send it to the AI. That AI, aka Papyrus, would help improve the grammar, punctuation, typos, and more. – (You can ask it what to do with your writing, whether if it’s telling it to make your story have intense suspense in it, or ask it for tips to explain your setting of the story – so you could possibly catch the readers attention). Once we’ve finished that, we had to write an observation of the mistakes or helpful things the AI did on a new doc and send it to Naomi. There, I’ve explained how bad and good the AI is, here’s part of my feedback if you’re curious. I couldn’t exactly complain about how bad it is (since I love to complain) but the AI was too good I couldn’t really argue about how poor the AI feedback was. I’ve only done two negative comments of it because it was mostly helpful which I couldn’t add into my feedback since I want most of my writing to fit in one screenshot (like I said, I’m only showing you part of my feedback). And yeah, that’s what I’ve written about.

Onto our next experience, the day after from there, we tried to use the AI again, without Naomi this time. We had to ask the AI to improve our argument. That argument is about ‘why schools should be for 4 days per week’, there was an option to be against the rule or for it (defending it). I was against and I wrote why schools shouldn’t set the routine.

Papyrus gave me awesome feedback, here’s a screenshot.

In that image, before I told the AI to break it down, the AI was using very strong words which I couldn’t comprehend. That’s why I asked it kindly to break the words down so I could understand it more.

My first evidence of my argument explained that kids could be homesick and take more days off of school than attend it. I had no form of evidence or whatsoever, so I had to evacuate to a different plan of persuading the reader into wanting schools to be limited to 5 days. I asked Papyrus for more stronger evidence besides the home sick part, but one with proof and which makes more sense to actually make a person realize that I’m right. Papyrus replied with a more superior example which made me very satisfied!

Here’s the final product (please only read the highlighted one, because that’s the sentence which the AI helped me with):

I highly recommend using PapyrusAI if your teacher creates a group for it, or if you want to just use it for your work solos. (don’t use the AI for inappropriate things because it could stop the chat). This is not sponsored, but I think the AI is good.

I hope you’ve enjoyed reading my work with AI! Please comment down below my mistakes or what your thoughts are on my work.

Bye!!! (• u •)♡

24. Fair Chocolate Master – Reading

Kia Ora.

Throughout the last week, my group and another reading group has been reading a book about a timeline of how chocolate is made. We also watched a few videos about fair trading, and what it is.

::Fair-Trading is something that has a fair amount of ‘$’ paid to the workers as balanced as the sellers. I explained it briefly because you can see my true explanation on slide 4.

If you were to inspect slide 5, you can see that there is an advertisement about coffee. I made that by myself on Canva, which I am slightly proud of. It shows the cheap, but fair prices, because the people who help pick and make the coffee beans get paid that exact or maybe higher amount per hour or day.

I skipped about 11 or 12 slides… but they were extra work, so it doesn’t precisely matter.

For Dashing Doggies, which is close to the last slide, I had to skip the timeline of Dashing Doggies, because I wanted to get my reading on my blog, also I didn’t exactly understand how to make it – whether to write the timeline or create it with shapes or sorts.

Here it is down below.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I believe that I’ve done quite decently on my post here, skim through the slides and read a few to not only learn about what chocolate is and how it is made, but also wanting to have some in the moment.
God bless you, bye! (•ᴗ•)❤
